Misconceptions

Nuanced
"God is dead" joyfully celebrates the end of religion.

In the text, a "madman" announces it, and the tone is tragic: "How shall we console ourselves, the most murderous of all murderers?" Nietzsche describes a crisis, not a celebration.

False
The Will to Power is his major book.

It is a posthumous compilation of notes, ordered and partly arranged by his sister. Scholars cite the notebooks in their real order, not this montage.

False
Nietzsche was an antisemite and a German nationalist.

He fell out with Wagner and with his sister partly over their antisemitism, and often mocked German nationalism. It was his sister who brought his work close to nascent Nazism.
